Natural Solutions for Pain: Non-Addictive and Cost-Effective

Over 100 million Americans suffer from chronic pain—yet conventional “solutions” can cause intestinal bleeding, dependence, heart disease, and cancer. Yikes! Here’s some of what integrative medicine has to offer instead.

Drawing upon the advice of such natural health superstars as Dr. Jonathan Wright, Dr. Julian Whitaker, Dr. Robert Rowen, Dr. Frank Shallenberger, and Dr. Stephen Sinatra—as well as cutting-edge studies and the personal experiences of the ANH-USA staff—we’ve compiled the following list of natural treatments for pain.

Don’t be overwhelmed by its length—it’s meant to start the conversation between you and your integrative physician on natural alternatives for chronic pain. We encourage you to print it out, highlight a few appealing options, and discuss them with your healthcare provider:

BPA finally banned from baby bottles, only to be replaced by deadly BPS chemical

(NaturalNews) Now that almost every baby bottle manufacturer in the country has already voluntarily stopped using toxic bisphenol A (BPA) in its product formulations, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has finally gotten around to issuing a formal ban on the chemical from baby bottles and children's drinking cups. But this ban means very little, as many manufacturers have already begun substituting bisphenol S (BPS), a potentially more deadly plastics chemical, in many BPA-free products, including children's products.

Prompted by widespread consumer outrage over BPA's use in children's products despite its proven toxicity, the FDA reluctantly issued its basically useless ban, claiming that the decision "simply codifie[s] what the industry was already doing based on the preference of consumers," to borrow the words of New York Times (NYT) writer Sabrina Tavernise. The FDA, in other words, is trying to assert its (ir)relevance in the matter after the fact, even though the people have already made the decision with their wallets.

Humorously, the FDA, while issuing its ban, made a point of reiterating its position that BPA is still safe, and that the ban has nothing to do with BPA's safety. FDA Deputy Commissioner Michael Taylor, former Monsanto lawyer-turned Vice President of Public Relations, stated publicly that his agency "continue[s] to support [BPA's] safe use," this after the agency stated in 2010 that it had concerns about the effects of BPA on "brain, behavior and prostate gland[s] of fetuses, infants and children."

Fortunately, the FDA's dubious position on BPA reaffirms that the agency has no clue what it is talking about, and does not take actual science seriously. The FDA has long been in bed with the chemical industry, and its refusal to admit that BPA is toxic, especially to children, will eventually become the agency's demise.

BPS is more dangerous than BPA

But an even bigger issue than BPA is its replacement, BPS, a chemical that was found in a recent study to have a significantly higher uptake in skin compared to BPA. Published in the journal Environmental Science & Technology, the first ever study on BPS' toxicity verified not only that the chemical is widely used, even in BPA-free products, but that it is also significantly more toxic because of its incredible absorption rate. (http://www.naturalnews.com/036497_BPA_BPS_chemical.html)

Few people are aware of the existence of BPS because nobody is really talking much about it. Just like with BPA, the safety of BPS was never properly tested prior to its quiet introduction and use in consumer products, which is hardly surprising since most of the chemicals used in consumer products today were never properly safety tested. (http://www.naturalnews.com/029167_consumer_products_chemicals.html)

"Compared with when BPA was more widely used, people may now be absorbing 19 times more BPS through their skin, and people who handle thermal cash-register paper in their jobs may be absorbing even more BPS," says a recent U.S. News and World Report piece on BPS, quoting the words of a research scientist at the New York State Department of Health who led a study on BPS.

Obamacare shutdown theater: President holds entire nation ransom with contrived closings

(NaturalNews) The government "shutdown" is a hoax. It is pure theater designed to make life as miserable as possible for Americans while the government keeps collecting taxes, racking up debt expenditures, running foreign wars and doing all the unconstitutional things government does these days. It is now becoming obvious to nearly all Americans that the Obama administration is running a pernicious, punitive, selective "shutdown" that's designed to hold the American people hostage until Obama gets his way. His "ransom demand" is total capitulation to his demands for endless spending, the total takeover of medicine by Obamacare, and the centralization of power in the hands of the few.

The Obama administration ran a similar gambit a few months back when it started releasing thousands of felony criminals from U.S. prisons, claiming it was forced to do so because of sequestration budget cuts.

Today, the Obama administration has barricaded World War II memorials, shut down access to private businesses, closed parts of the OCEAN, closed tourist viewing areas of famous landmarks and gone out of its way to attempt to inflict suffering and inconvenience upon the People of America. It has punitively blocked access to a private hotel and even kicked people off private lands as part of the government's shutdown theater.

Sugar Substitutes—What’s Safe and What’s Not

  • Sugar substitutes can be divided into four general categories: artificial sweetener, sugar alcohols, natural sweeteners, and dietary supplements such as Stevia and Lo Han
  • Artificial sweeteners can actually be far worse for you than sugar and fructose, and scientific evidence backs up that conclusion
  • Furthermore, numerous studies show they increase weight gain and worsen insulin sensitivity to a greater degree than sugar
  • Natural sweeteners such as honey and agave may seem like a healthier choice, but not only are they loaded with fructose, many are also highly processed
  • In moderation, some sugar alcohols can be a better choice than highly refined sugar, fructose or artificial sweeteners. Of the various sugar alcohols, xylitol is one of the best. When it is pure, the potential side effects are minimal
  • Three of the best sugar substitutes are all-natural Stevia from the whole plant, Lo Han Guo, and dextrose (pure glucose). Contrary to fructose, glucose can be used directly by every cell in your body and as such is a far safer sugar alternative

Are conspiracy theorists really the sane ones?

It really was the CIA, John Edwards and Richard Nixon who were involved!

It turns out the conspiracy theorists are right sometimes and maybe more often than thought.

For example, in the recent Navy Yard shooting attack by Aaron Alexis that killed 12 and injured eight, theories have been abundant, especially after Alexis reportedly heard voices.

Alexis apparently believed he was being harassed through microwave mind control, an assertion that in the mind of most would render him crazy.

But Wired.com pointed to a 2008 story on a declassified Pentagon report disclosing research on using microwave voice projection technology as weaponry.

The researchers at the Pentagon were reportedly looking for nonlethal weapons.

Radioactive Wastewater From Fracking Is Found in a Pennsylvania Stream

In the state of Pennsylvania, home to the lucrative Marcellus Shale formation, 74 facilities treat wastewater from the process of hydraulic fracturing (a.k.a. “fracking”) for natural gas and release it into streams. There’s no national set of standards that guides this treatment process—the EPA notes that the Clean Water Act’s guidelines were developed before fracking even existed, and that many of the processing plants “are not properly equipped to treat this type of wastewater”—and scientists have conducted relatively little assessment of the wastewater to ensure it’s safe after being treated.
Recently, a group of Duke University scientists decided to do some testing. They contacted the owners of one treatment plant, the Josephine Brine Treatment Facility on Blacklick Creek in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, but, “when we tried to work with them, it was very difficult getting ahold of the right person,” says Avner Vengosh, an Earth scientist from Duke. “Eventually, we just went and tested water right from a public area downstream.”
Their analyses, made on water samples collected repeatedly over the course of two years, were even more concerning than we’d feared. As published today in the journal Environmental Science and Technology, they found high concentrations of the element radium, a highly radioactive substance. The concentrations were roughly 200 times higher than background levels. In addition,  amounts of chloride and bromide in the water were two to ten times greater than normal.
“Even if, today, you completely stopped disposal of the wastewater,” Vengosh says, there’s enough contamination built up that”you’d still end up with a place that the U.S. would consider a radioactive waste site.”

The Violent Side Effects of Antidepressants

  • Antidepressant-induced violence and homicide is an international problem, but it is particularly apparent in the US due to the widespread use (and misuse) of these drugs
  • 31 commonly-prescribed drugs are disproportionately associated with cases of violent acts. Five of the top 10 most violence-inducing drugs are antidepressants. Commonly used ADHD drugs are also on the list
  • Research has found that one in every 250 subjects taking Paxil or Prozac were involved in a violent episode. In a study group of 25,000 people, this included 31 assaults and one homicide
  • ADHD drugs were responsible for nearly 23,000 emergency room visits in 2011—a more than 400% increase in ER visits due to adverse reactions to such drugs in a mere six years
  • The American Psychiatric Association recently issued a statement urging doctors and patients to reconsider the practice of using anti-psychotic medications as the first line of treatment for dementia, behavior problems, and insomnia

CDC Reveals Disturbing Truth about Factory Farms and Superbugs

  • Agricultural uses account for about 80 percent of all antibiotic use in the US, so it's a MAJOR source of human antibiotic consumption
  • According to a new CDC report, antibiotics used in livestock plays a role in antibiotic resistance and “should be phased out”; 22 percent of antibiotic-resistant illness in humans is in fact linked to food
  • MRSA infection has been rapidly increasing among people outside hospital settings as well. Increasing evidence points to factory-scale hog facilities as a source
  • Previous research suggests you have a 50/50 chance of buying meat tainted with drug-resistant bacteria when you buy meat from your local grocery store
  • Excessive exposure to antibiotics—which includes regularly eating antibiotic-laced CAFO meats—also takes a heavy toll on your gastrointestinal health. This in turn can predispose you to virtually any disease

Government ‘Shut Down’ Doesn’t Prevent Opening of $2 Billion NSA Spy Center

Snooping on Americans; business as usual

Paul Joseph Watson

October 1, 2013

The so-called “government shut down” and the furloughing of thousands of non-essential federal employees has not prevented the opening of a $2 billion dollar NSA spy center in Utah which will snoop on Americans’ private emails, Google searches and phone calls.

As we highlighted yesterday, the shut down will only affect the tiny amount of services government provides that Americans actually like.
Rest assured, TSA grope downs, VIPR checkpoints, drone attacks, SWAT team raids, tax collection, torturing terrorists at Guantanamo Bay, arming jihadists in Syria and running guns to Mexican drug dealers will all continue unimpeded – as will NSA domestic spying.
Although the NSA itself refuses to confirm it, to all intents and purposes the agency’s mammoth new spy center in Bluffdale, Utah “may be open already,” according to the Denver Post.
“The facility is expected this fall to quietly begin sucking in massive amounts of information for the intelligence community and storing it in the cavernous buildings in Bluffdale, Utah, according to NSA officials — and it could be open now even as the agency faces scrutiny over efforts to collect data on Americans domestically,” writes Thomas Burr.
