Femtosecond lasers weld neurons back together

Intact neuronal cells consisting of soma (the main cell body), dendrites (structures that branch off the soma), and the axon (a long extension from the cell body that connects to other soma, dendrites, or axons) process and transfer information via electrical impulses and chemical signals. Of course, when these neuronal pathways are disrupted, communication is broken, causing the muscles normally innervated by these synaptic pathways to atrophy and/or die.
Until now, it was not possible to reconnect neuronal tissue. But thanks to ongoing applications development for ultrafast lasers, researchers at the University of Alberta (Edmonton, AB, Canada) have used a near-infrared femtosecond laser with 1.7 (± 0.08) × 10¹² W/cm² intensity and ± 0.5 μm aiming accuracy to perform "hemifusion" of healthy soma and axons. Through ultrafast multiphoton and avalanche ionization processes, the laser pulses induce molecular rearrangement of the phospholipid bilayers, allowing photo-induced ions and electrons to cross over to the central nonpolar region of the phospholipid bilayer and break the bonds of the fatty acid tails, after which the ionized phospholipid molecules seek an equilibrium state and form new bonds with nearby ions. This cross-linking process forms a strong, shared phospholipid bilayer or hemifused membrane-an important implication for potential studies into neuronal regeneration and repair. Reference: N. Quaker instant oatmeal and Silk non-GMO soy creamer found contaminated with alarming levels of glyphosate weed killer... and they're not even GMO!

According to glyphosate laboratory testing conducted at Microbe Inotech Laboratories, Inc., in St. Louis, the Quaker Instant Oatmeal (Strawberries and Cream) sample tested at the lab contains an astonishing 1,327.1 ppb (parts per billion) of glyphosate weed killer.

The test results, achieved via the ELISA methodology (enzyme linked immunosorbent assay), are astonishing for two reasons:

1) They are extremely high, far surpassing the levels of glyphosate that have so far been detected in other foods.

2) Oats are not GMO! While glyphosate might be expected at some concentrations in GM soy and other herbicide resistant crops, very few people are aware that glyphosate is being routinely sprayed on wheat, barley and oat crops as a powerful desiccant, right before harvest.

Organic brands were far cleaner

By comparison, Nature's Path Organic Instant Oatmeal -- produced by a cereal company that meticulously avoids GMOs and toxic agricultural chemicals -- showed a final test result of "less than 75 ppb" which could mean essentially zero. For grains, anything below 75 ppb is below the LoD (Limit of Detection) for the ELISA methodology.

The testing was commissioned by the Alliance for Natural Health (ANH-USA), which tested 24 popular breakfast foods and found glyphosate concentrations in 11 of those samples. ANH-USA has also released a video on the subject, entitled "Are You Eating Glyphosate For Breakfast?" (The answer is probably YES...)

"We decided to do this testing to see just how ubiquitous this toxin has become in our environment. We expected that trace amounts would show up in foods containing large amounts of corn and soy," explained Gretchen DuBeau, executive and legal director of ANH-USA. "However, we were unprepared for just how invasive this poison has been to our entire food chain."

Silk, Whole Foods' 365, Pepperidge Farm, Thomas's and other brands all named

Many consumers will be extremely surprised -- perhaps "shocked" is a better descriptor -- to learn that "Silk" brand non-GMO soy creamer still contains glyphosate, according to these test results.

Whole Foods' 365 brand was also found to contain a significant concentration of glyphosate, as was Cream of Wheat hot cereal, which is mostly made of wheat (which is also non-GMO).

Thus, the disturbing upshot of these tests is that even non-GMO crops can be saturated with glyphosate weed killer chemicals. This includes oats, wheat, barley and other crops.

Glyphosate is currently listed as "probably carcinogen" by the IARC -- meaning these health experts believe there is credible evidence that it causes cancer. Click here for the IARC's report and conclusions.

Because of its toxicity, glyphosate is being aggressively outlawed by various countries around the world such as The Netherlands and Sri Lanka, to name a few.

The European Union has publicly stated that glyphosate herbicide formulates are "genotoxic," while Monsanto, which sells glyphosate branded as "Roundup," is running an entire department of propagandists and professional muckrakers whose job is to discredit anyone who disagree with industry propaganda.

Monsanto propagandists include the globally reviled Jon Entine, a paid disinfo shill and industry propagandist whose job is to spread lies and disinformation about GMOs in much the same way Big Tobacco once declared cigarettes didn't cause cancer (and weren't addictive, either). It’s Time to Admit: The ‘9/11 Truthers’ Were Right

Among the numerous views held by those espousing “9/11 truth,” one central idea remains the same: The United States government is complicit in the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.

An article in the New York Post this week, boldly titled “How US covered up Saudi role in 9/11,” details how the highest levels of the US government not only helped conceal Saudi involvement but assisted the perpetrators in escaping the country.
The Cover-up
“The kingdom’s involvement was deliberately covered up at the highest levels of our government. And the coverup goes beyond locking up 28 pages of the Saudi report in a vault in the US Capitol basement,” Paul Sperry writes. “Investigations were throttled. Co-conspirators were let off the hook.”
Everyone from Join Terrorism Task Force members to FBI agents and Virginia law enforcement say that despite evidence leading to the Saudi Embassy in Washington, investigations were derailed repeatedly by higher ups.
“Those sources say the pages missing from the 9/11 congressional inquiry report — which comprise the entire final chapter dealing with ‘foreign support for the September 11 hijackers’ — details ‘incontrovertible evidence’ gathered from both CIA and FBI case files of official Saudi assistance for at least two of the Saudi hijackers who settled in San Diego.”
The Saudi Connection
One name specifically, that of Saudi Ambassador Prince Bandar, commonly known as “Bandar Bush” due to his longtime relationship with the president, came up frequently during investigations.
“Some information has leaked from the redacted section, including a flurry of pre-9/11 phone calls between one of the hijackers’ Saudi handlers in San Diego and the Saudi Embassy, and the transfer of some $130,000 from then-Saudi Ambassador Prince Bandar’s family checking account to yet another of the hijackers’ Saudi handlers in San Diego,” Sperry continues.
Upon learning of the agent’s knowledge, State Department officials responded not by detaining Bandar, but by providing him with round-the-clock protection.
“An investigator who worked with the JTTF in Washington complained that instead of investigating Bandar, the US government protected him — literally,” the article says. “He said the State Department assigned a security detail to help guard Bandar not only at the embassy, but also at his McLean, Va., mansion.”
Former FBI agent John Guandolo, a Washington field agent who investigated Bandar following 9/11, says the Saudi should have undoubtedly been treated as a suspect.
“The Saudi ambassador funded two of the 9/11 hijackers through a third party,” Guandolo said. “He should be treated as a terrorist suspect, as should other members of the Saudi elite class who the US government knows are currently funding the global jihad.”
The Getaway
The article goes on to state that just two days after the attack, Bandar visited the White House to enjoy several cigars with President Bush before being granted safe passage out of the country with other Saudis.
“After he met on Sept. 13, 2001, with President Bush in the White House, where the two old family friends shared cigars on the Truman Balcony, the FBI evacuated dozens of Saudi officials from multiple cities, including at least one Osama bin Laden family member on the terror watch list,” Sperry says. “Instead of interrogating the Saudis, FBI agents acted as security escorts for them, even though it was known at the time that 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi citizens.”
Then-White House adviser Richard Clarke also stated in 2003 that he aided the Saudis escape after being assured by FBI agents that they had been cleared of wrongdoing.
“The adviser, Richard Clarke, who ran the White House crisis team after the attacks but has since left the Bush administration, said he agreed to the extraordinary plan because the Federal Bureau of Investigation assured him that the departing Saudis were not linked to terrorism,” Times writer Eric Lichtblau stated.
The Saudi Panic
In response to growing knowledge of the Saudi’s role, the Islamic kingdom has threatened to “sell up to $750 billion in treasury securities and other assets in the United States” if legislation backing the release of the 28 pages is passed.
“Adel al-Jubeir, the Saudi foreign minister, delivered the kingdom’s message personally last month during a trip to Washington, telling lawmakers that Saudi Arabia would be forced to sell up to $750 billion in treasury securities and other assets in the United States before they could be in danger of being frozen by American courts,” writes The New York Times.
Although such information is devastating to the US, Saudi Arabia and the “official story” of September 11, much of it has been public since the years following the attack.
The Other Whistleblowers
Largely ignored by the press is the countless other government officials who also say they experienced similar treatment when trying to investigate America’s largest ever terror attack.
Former NSA senior executive Thomas Drake, who blew the whistle on domestic surveillance during the Bush presidency, has commented repeatedly on NSA intelligence that would have “undoubtedly” stopped 9/11.
“The NSA had critical intelligence about Al Qaeda and associated movements in particular that had never been properly shared outside of NSA,” Drake said in 2014. “They simply did not share critical intelligence although they had it.”
Former senior intelligence officer Lt. Col Anthony Shaffer was similarly sidelined by the Defense Intelligence Agency for blowing the whistle on covered up operations that identified two terrorist cells later charged for the 9/11 attacks.
“I had no intention of joining the ranks of ‘whistle blowers,’” Shaffer said in 2009. “When I made my disclosure to the 9/11 commission regarding the existence of a pre 9/11 offensive counter-terrorism operation that had discovered several of the 9/11 terrorists a full year before the 9/11 attacks my intention was to simply tell the truth, and fulfill my oath of office.”

Syngenta asks EPA to raise insecticide limits while scientists develop robots to replace bees decimated by chemicals

Around 95 percent of corn and 70 percent of soy grown in the US and Canada is cloaked in either clothianidin or thiamethoxan. Both chemicals are from a class of insecticides called neonicotinoids. Similar to nicotine, neonicotinoids bind to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the cells of the central nervous system. In insects, this triggers a suppressive and deadly response at the cellular level.

In the rush to protect crops from insect damage, scientists have neglected one important detail. The neonicotinoid insecticides can be absorbed into the plant. As the plant matures, the chemical can be transported throughout the plant, most importantly, into the pollen. Over time, pollinators like honeybees can be weakened and compromised. Massive bee die-offs have been occurring around the world where neonicotinoids are heavily used. Without pollinators, all sorts of plants suffer -- especially key vegetable crops and wild herbs. Honeybees pollinate about one-third of the world's food. Without them, $15 billion in agricultural production would be lost each year.

Tiffany Stacker of E&E reported, "Scientists say neonicotinoids can suppress bees' immune systems, making them more vulnerable to viruses and bacteria. The Fish and Wildlife Service agreed to phase out neonicotinoids on wildlife refuges nationwide starting in January 2016."

The insecticides are so catastrophic that the European Union banned the use of them two years ago after validating a study linking neonicotinoids to honeybee colony collapse disorder.

Syngenta wants to raise insecticide limit from 0.1 ppm to 4.9 ppm - a staggering increase

Disdainfully, chemical giant Syngenta has recently asked the US EPA to lift current restrictions on their insecticides, asking regulators to increase the allowable level of thiamethoxan to 4.9 parts per million. The EPA's current allowable level is 0.1 ppm. Syngenta is basically asking the federal government to approve more than 40 times the amount of insecticide in the environment! This type of increase would speed up bee die-offs tragically, probably wiping 90 percent or more of their population from affected ecosystems within the next decade.

That wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing for the biotechnology-chemical industry. As always, they create a problem and then invent a solution, while the natural world is destroyed in the process. Their solution for having no bees on the planet is simple: develop robot bees.

Scientists develop robot bees to replace bees destroyed by insecticides

At Harvard University, the RoboBee is already up and flying, flapping its wings at 120 times per second. Engineering professor Robert Wood introduced the new robotic bee just a year ago and envisions an entire team of them pollinating fields in the next decade. The bees wouldn't be able to produce raw medicinal honey or propolis. They would simply just pick up and lay down pollen.

"RoboBees will work best when employed as swarms of thousands of individuals, coordinating their actions without relying on a single leader," Wood and his colleagues wrote in Scientific American. "The hive must be resilient enough so that the group can complete its objectives even if many bees fail."

The project is a breakthrough for micro aerial vehicles, but the tiny bots are still unable to communicate with one another or fly on their own. The current model has to be driven by a person. The challenge that the developers now face is fitting flight muscles, sensors and a battery on the robot bee without it weighing more than a gram.

Inventing profitable problem-solution monopoly while destroying Earth

While the RoboBee "solution" could potentially help recover lost pollinators in the natural world, it would overshadow the root problem of an agricultural system dependent on chemicals that are quietly destroying the world and bringing down the entire food system.

This is exactly how herbicide-resistant genetically modified crops work too. Engineered herbicide-resistant crops create the need for more herbicides, thus creating more need for profitable, patented seeds.

What's really happening at this moment in history is corporations are destroying the natural world for profit and forcing people to be dependent on the technological "fix." In this way, science is not progressing mankind but instead stripping him of his humanity and destroying his sacred connection to Earth.

"Cancer stem cells pose serious obstacle to cancer therapy as they can be responsible for poor prognosis and tumour relapse. To add into the misery, very few chemotherapeutic compounds show promise to kill these cells. Several researchers have shown that cancer stem cells are resistant to paclitaxel, doxorubicin, 5-fluorouracil, and platinum drugs [8, 16]. CSCs are thus an almost unreachable population in tumours for chemotherapy. Therefore any compound, that shows promise towards cancer stem cells, is a highly desirable step towards cancer treatment and should be followed up for further development."

Medicinal clay used by Native Americans shown to be more effective than overused antibiotics

For thousands of years, indigenous people throughout the world have used clay for and dirt for their powerful health benefits. Even animals are drawn to clay, especially in the form of mud. It's about time, too!

Ever since 1928 and the discovery of penicillin, antibiotics have helped billions of people fight infections and therefore live longer, apparently healthier lives. However, as soon as we began to cure disease using antibiotics, we became too reliant on their help. The more we used them, the more resistant bacteria became. Now, treating an infection can be a serious challenge.

What's worse, we did not use antibiotics only in the treatment of human infections. Instead, we started feeding them to animals that were bred in improper conditions in order to avoid disease and increase profits. This led to the emergence of a series of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, which can be transmitted to any human eating infected meat. According to the Environmental Working Group, most of the ground beef and ground turkey sold across the United States contains this type of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

What happens next is that when we get sick, we can no longer be treated with antibiotics. This is why it is so important to avoid the use of antibiotics and develop natural cures to our illnesses. Given our situation, the clay recently discovered in Kisameet Bay is a support-worthy effort in the right direction.
